Most of our boots are listed in EU sizes, and each product shows its size system next to the sizes it comes in. Conversions vary by maker, so contact us if you’re unsure. If a maker’s sizing runs large or small, we’ll say so on the product page.
Measuring your feet
- Measure later in the day. Feet are slightly larger in the afternoon.
- Stand on a sheet of paper with your heel against a wall, wearing the socks you’ll wear with your boots.
- Mark the tip of your longest toe, then measure from the wall to the mark in centimetres.
- Measure both feet and use the longer measurement.
Compare your measurement with the size information on the product page, or call or email us and we’ll help you choose.
How cowboy boots should fit
Cowboy boots fit differently from trainers or everyday shoes. A good fit has:
- A snug instep. The top of your foot should feel held, not squeezed. This is what keeps your foot in place, because cowboy boots have no laces.
- Room for your toes. You should be able to wiggle your toes. The toe shape (round, square or pointed) changes how much space is there, not where your foot sits.
- The ball of your foot at the widest part of the boot.
- A little heel lift. Expect your heel to lift slightly (around half a centimetre) as you walk in new boots. This settles as the sole flexes and the leather softens. If your heel slides right up and down, the boot is too big.
Pulling a new pair on can take some effort, which is normal. If you can’t get your foot past the instep at all, try the next size or a wider fitting.
Wide calves
Some women’s tall boots come in a wide-calf fitting. Measure around the widest part of your calf and compare it with the shaft circumference on the product page.
Children’s sizes
Children’s boots use UK children’s sizes.
- Measure your child’s feet as above, standing up, with the socks they’ll wear.
- Allow about 1 cm of growing room, roughly a thumb’s width, beyond their longest toe.
- Children’s feet grow quickly, so measure again every few months.
- Check that they can pull the boots on themselves if they’ll be wearing them to school or club activities.
Cowboy hat sizes
Measure around your head with a soft tape measure, just above your ears and eyebrows, where the hat will sit. Keep the tape level and snug, but not tight. If you’re between sizes, choose the larger one: a hat can be made slightly smaller with sizing tape, but not larger.
