The Highlands and Islands
Many retailers charge extra to deliver to the Highlands and Islands. We don’t charge a remote-area surcharge on UK Standard delivery. You pay the same as anywhere else in the UK, and standard delivery is free on orders over £100.
Parcels to these areas take a little longer: please allow 1–2 extra working days. Next-day Express isn’t available to them. The postcodes this covers include the HS (Western Isles), IV (Inverness and the Highlands), KW (Caithness and Orkney) and ZE (Shetland) areas, and parts of the AB, FK, KA, PA and PH areas, which include island communities such as Arran, Bute, Mull, Islay and Skye. Checkout shows the options available for your postcode.
Bank holidays in Scotland
We dispatch orders from London on English working days, but delivery happens on Scottish working days. Scotland has its own bank holidays, including 2 January, the first Monday in August and St Andrew’s Day (30 November). If you’re ordering for a particular date around these holidays, allow an extra day.
Boots for Scottish weather
Wet and windy days are part of life in much of Scotland, so it’s worth choosing and caring for your boots with that in mind:
- Smooth leather handles rain better than suede. Condition it regularly so water beads off rather than soaking in.
- Suede looks great but needs a protector spray before the first wear, and is better kept for drier days.
- Western work boots and ropers have lower heels and thicker soles that grip better on wet pavements.
- If your boots get soaked, dry them slowly at room temperature, never on a radiator. Our boot care guide explains how.
For cooler months, a wool felt hat keeps its shape in damp weather better than straw. See cowboy hats.
Questions from customers in Scotland
Is there a surcharge for the Highlands and Islands?
No. UK Standard delivery costs the same to the Highlands and Islands as anywhere else in the UK, and it’s free on orders over £100. Please allow 1–2 extra working days.
Can I get next-day delivery to Glasgow or Edinburgh?
Yes. Order UK Express by 1pm, Monday to Thursday, for delivery the next working day to mainland Scottish addresses, including Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Dundee.
How do I return something from Scotland?
The same way as anywhere in the UK: tell us within 30 days, then post the item back by tracked delivery. Your return deadline is based on when you send it, not when it reaches us, so allow for island postage times. See returns and refunds.
